At first, I thought these affirmation files seemed ridiculous. They couldn’t possibly work. Mechanically, they are very slow, with at least three different lines, and the most embarrassing line is read only once per iteration. (Elswyth says in a podcast that by having a line only once, it has a sense of “finality”.) They are all read by Elswyth, not as commands, but from her own point of view, which seems funny if you think about it. There is no trigger, no deepener, no suggestion at all. But it works. For me, after only one listen … well, the effect is hard to explain, but undeniable.
For a second listen, I used the half-hour version and tried to subvert it in various ways, e.g. by ignoring the lines and repeating nothing. Each iteration, my brain went crazy/trancey on the strongest line. I felt helpless.
Also, surprisingly, I find the half-hour file to be my favourite. I’d thought it was pointless since I could just loop the shorter one infinitely, but 30mins allowed me to drop into unconscious trance. (I’m not a beginner at trance.) The shorter file is good for combining with others.
Both are much better than the podcast/YT version with intro/outro.
